What is the difference between a NutriBase update and an upgrade?
Updates are free; upgrades are about half price.

Who wrote your comparison chart and why should I trust it?
We wrote that comparison chart. We believe it is reliable. We spent days (not just "hours") trying to figure out if our competitor's software could perform any of the 150 different functions that NutriBase can perform. The last thing we wanted was to have them come back to us and say that we said they couldn't do something when, in fact, they could. We've had correspondence with these competitors and that is one of the reasons why the comparison chart is so well-documented with footnotes and clarifications.

I was told that I could add as many new food items as I wanted to NutriBase. How do I add a food item?
Click the PFI (Personal Food Item) Icon, then click the Create Button. To add more than what is typically provided on the Nutrition Facts Label, click the Nutrients Button. To enter values as Percent Daily Values, click the %DV Button.

My hard drive crashed and I don't have the original download that I purchased from you. What can I do?
Emailemail us anytime by clicking the email icon in the lower right corner of any page on this web site to request a download of the latest edition of the software you purchased. We will reply with the download instructions. You can order a replacement CD for a nominal charge of $10.

What's the difference between NutriBase Clinical Nutrition Manager and the NutriBase SE Edition?
The Clinical SE Edition supports a web-based questionnaire. We install a CGI script and a questionnaire page on your web site. Once we've installed and tested this questionnaire, you can edit it to look and feel like your web site. You can change the background color, fonts, spacing, add images, add additional options, etc.

The idea is that you offer visitors a free Initial Assessment Report just for completing the Questionnaire. They provide you with contact information (name, email, address, etc.) and personal information (gender, age, height, weight, etc.). This information is recorded on a file on your server.

Once a day, you download this file and the NutriBase Clinical SE version will automatically read the information and log on all the clients who submitted your Questionnaire. All their contact information goes into the integrated Client Contact Manager. All their personal information is used to log them on as clients within NutriBase.

At this point, you can generate reports for them. The Assessment Report contains 170+ things that NutriBase knows about each client.

Can I update from the Clinical Edition of NutriBase to the Clinical SE Edition of NutriBase at a later date?
Yes. You just pay the difference in price.

When I start NutriBase, I get hit with a Quote of the Day, New User Help, and a User Information Window. Is there any way for me to turn these things off?
Yes. Click the "Prefs" option of the Menu Bar and click the Settings Tab. Uncheck the boxes for these three viewing options. If you want to turn any of these back on in the future, just visit this section and check the boxes for the options you want.

When I conduct a search, I don't find any restaurant foods. What's up?
When you first use NutriBase, it is set to search across Research Quality Nutrient Data only. To include other categories of foods in your search, click the down arrow next to the box labeled "Database to search:" and select the option you want to use. The option "Research Quality Data plus Brand Name data" will locate items from all brand name foods, including restaurants.

I didn't purchase a manual. How do I print the Manual you included as a PDF file?
It's a very good idea to print the User's Manual It contains 150+ "How to.." topics that give you step-by-step instructions for just about everything. Click the "My Computer" Icon on your Windows Desktop. Navigate until you locate the NutriBase folder on your hard drive. (This is normally located in C:\program files\nb4.) Click on the folder called "Manual". Double click on the file called "Manual.pdf". If you get an error message, it is most likely because you don't have Adobe Acrobat installed on your computer. You can install this from the NutriBase installation CD or you can download it from our web site.

I just conducted a search on "STRAWBERRIES" and only got a few hits. What's up?
Try the search again, but this time, search on "STRAWBERRY". Most - but not all - entries in NutriBase are expressed in the singular form.

How can I tell what version of NutriBase I'm using?
Open NutriBase. Click the "Help" option of the Menu Bar at the top of the NutriBase window (above the Tool Bar Icons). Click the "About NutriBase" option. (In older versions of NutriBase, you may have to click the "File" option of the Menu Bar.)

How can I tell if I need to update my copy of NutriBase?
Check your version number. Then click on the downloads option of this web site to see what the latest edition's version number is. If your version number is lower than the current, you should download and install the latest update.
