| Get the Facts. Buy Informed. Don't be Sorry. This page summarizes some of the things that NutriBase can do for you that our closest competitors cannot. Consider:
You can import recipes, PFI's, meals, and meal plans by simply double-clicking on their file names. It's never been easier.
NutriBase features a fully customizable Quick Access Toolbar similar to the one you are familiar with in Microsoft Office. Access frequently used features instantly.
NutriBase lets you create pre-licensed, royalty-free Client Intake Module (CIM) CD's for your clients. This will let them install software to their computers, record their own intakes, and email you their results with the click of a button. NutriBase makes it possible for one person to finish hundreds of food intake reports a week. And there is no licensing fee no matter how many clients you wish to support with this new feature. And with NB8, you can customize the software caption, add your own custom splash screen, and create your own custom label. You can even post the Intake Module to your web site and allow your customers to download the software to their PC's.
Scheduled backups. This feature keeps your protected by never letting your forget to backup up your work. You can also tell NutriBase how many backups you wish to save. For example, if you tell NutriBase to save a maximum of seven backups, it will delete the oldest backup file after you reach your maximum number of NutriBase backup files. This saves hard drive space and lets you go back in time if necessary.
Your company name (or your own name) can be stored and used as headers for your reports.
Password protection. Keep unauthorized snoops out of your software (and away from your client's confidential information).
Source Codes identify where the nutrient data for specific foods come from. Color coded screen background colors indicate the source (USDA, Canadian, etc.) of the nutrient data.
Calculating calorie requirements by using the EER (Estimated Energy Requirements).
NutriBase will track and graph Body Fat Percentages as well as Body Weight. View a 3-D graph (or a 2-D graph) that shows you your actual weight vs. your target weight, your actual body fat vs. your target body fat, or both your body fat and body weight at the same time. Many experts agree that the best way to determine your ideal body weight is by assessing your body fat content... this method is considered more accurate than the traditional reliance on "ideal body weight" charts (most of which disagree with one another).
NutriBase provides a powerful and flexible Formatted Report generator that lets you control many aspects of professional quality reports for your clients. Save your reports as PDF, word processor, web page, and spreadsheet or database formats.
You can choose from Harris-Benedict, Mifflin St. Jeor, EER (Estimated Energy Requirements) or direct entry of RMR (from an indirect calorimeter) to calculate or enter calorie expenditures for your clients.
NutriBase features an integrated email program.
NutriBase lets you customize your Quick Access ToolBar for the way you like to work. The NutriBase Quick Access ToolBar is versatile and can be customized to suit your needs.
The Nutrient Density View. The Nutrient Density View lets you display the nutrient values for say, 100 kcal "servings" (or any other calorie level) of all fresh fruit in a spreadsheet view. This gives you an "apples-to-apples" comparison for all nutrients for hundreds or even thousands of fruits at once (NutriBase displays this nutrient data in a spreadsheet view). Rather than comparing the nutrient content of a watermelon to a strawberry, compare the nutrients in 100 kcal of watermelon to the nutrient contained in 100 kcal of strawberries. No other high-end nutrition software product supports this feature.
Rank columns on-screen while in the Nutrient Density View. Click the column header of any nutrient to rank all the foods based on the value of the nutrients in that column. This immediately ranks all your foods from high to low based on their value for the nutrient whose column header you clicked. Click the column header again to reverse the sort.
24 Hour Exercise Tracking. NutriBase can estimate daily calorie usage in the conventional manner - by estimating calories consumed based on your estimate of the client's activity level (sedentary, moderately active, etc.). But NutriBase can improve on the accuracy by letting you record your client's 24-hour activity and exercise calories separately from your 24-hour food intake. This results in the calculation of two numbers: total calories consumed and total calories expended. Compare these two numbers to determine the surplus or deficit. Make forecasts based on this calculation.
Track Monitored Exercises. This feature lets you take the calories (and other information) provided by monitored exercise machines (like programmable treadmills or heart rate monitors) and enter in the results. Now, if your treadmill changes inclination and/or speed over the duration of the exercise, you can still enter the best estimate of calories burned.
Support for Indirect Calorimeters. If you use a MedGem portable indirect calorimeter or similar device for obtaining your resting metabolic rate, you can enter that into NutriBase.
Adding foods to Personal Food Item (PFI) List prompts for serving size. This means that you can save PFI's in the serving size that you use most often as opposed to the serving size you entered in from a Nutrition Facts Label.
% Daily Value function for Recipes and Meals. Clicking this button shows you the Percent Daily Values for your recipe or meal.
Global Ranking Capability. NutriBase now allows you to perform rankings across the entire database. Or rank selected food categories and/or subcategories. This new ranking capability helps you find that "needle in the haystack" faster than ever.
NutriBase provides an integrated Backup program that lets you back up your recipes, Meal Plans, intakes, and all other client information and save it to any removable media. This is a very valuable feature. Click the Backup Icon to copy all the information in NutriBase to your hard drive or to a flash drive. Take your flash drive to another computer and restore the entire contents of your work copy of NutriBase to your home computer or to your notebook computer. NutriBase will even email your backup to your colleagues (or to yourself).
There's no sense making backups if you can't restore it to the same or different machine. NutriBase includes an integrated Restore program that lets you restore your recipes, Meal Plans, intakes, and all client information to your other computers. Backup to your flash drive, take it to the second PC, insert the flash drive and click the Restore Icon to restore all your information to your other computer.
NutriBase lets you view your recipes, meals, and personal food items in a spreadsheet view, then rank them on-screen from high-to-low based the values for any nutrient. To do this, just click on the column header of the nutrient in which you are interested. Clicking the column header again reverses the sort direction (to rank the column form or low-to-high).
NutriBase extends this customizing and formatting capability to Meals and Personal Food Items (foods you have added to the database)... allowing you to customize and save Meals and Personal Food Item Reports in customized text, word processor (RTF) or web page (HTML) formats.
NutriBase lets you select a client and click the button to generate a Calorie Expenditures report for any client. This report indicates the user's name, their current body weight, then shows them how many calories they - personally, based on their body weight - will burn in performing any of over 90 exercises for 30 minutes. Now you can give an exercise prescription in calories of exercise a day, then hand your clients the report that allows them to tailor their own workouts.
NutriBase lets you parse all intake items into meal and/or snack tabs as you select them and adjust serving sizes. You can also click on notebook tabs to see nutrient summaries (text and graphical) for each individual meal or snack.
The NutriBase Reports Tab allows you to select which nutrients you will include in your analysis; which meals, snacks, or total days to analyze; and the parameters you wish to include (averages, totals, percentages, etc.).
NutriBase lets you design your own "report headers" and auto-insert them for you at the top of every report you generate. These report headings can be text (in a word processor format) or an image, complete with your photo or logo if desired.
NutriBase will let you auto-record a list of foods that it will automatically record for your client (or for yourself) each time you record any food item for the client. This feature will save you hours of repetitive entry work if your client is required to eat certain foods every day (as in a long-term care facility) or if your client simply tends to eat certain foods over and over.
NutriBase will automatically select the appropriate nutrient goals for your clients based on their gender and age. Select the option and NutriBase does the rest automatically. NutriBase supports 1/3 and 2/3 nutrient goals… useful for situations in which you are serving only one or two meals to a population.
NutriBase calorie expenditure calculations take into consideration not only body weight, but gender, age, resting pulse, and intensity (as measured by perceived exertion or by average in-zone heart rate). NutriBase lets you select the formula used for these calculations. You can even modify key parameters in the formulas used in these calculations.
NutriBase provides full support for simple or rigorous queries (Boolean AND searches) on the nutrient data. You can specify upper or lower limits on each and every nutrient, then locate all the foods that meet all your criteria.
Once you've created a Meal Plan, you can copy a day (or days) from any meal plan to any other Meal Plan's day or days. You can copy selected days from an existing Meal Plan to a new Meal Plan. You can save an existing Meal Plan under a new name and edit it to be lower in sodium or fat, higher in calories, etc. All of things will save you a lot of time.
NutriBase lets you copy food logs (or parts of food intakes) from any user to any another user (or users) or to any Meal Plan. This is a time-saver because people who live together (spouses and persons in long term care facilities) often eat the same or similar things.
NutriBase lets you copy nutrient intakes from any client to any day or days of any Meal Plan. It also lets your copy any Meal Plan into any clients intake. This can save you many, many hours of re-keystroking data.
NutriBase lets you customize up to five Training Heart Rate Zones (define Zone Name, min and max zone ranges, and primary benefits). This lets you tailor your training and exercise prescriptions any way you desire.
NutriBase lets you "compose" your food intakes and/or recipes. That is, you can generate a composition analysis report for any intake or recipe by clicking the Compose Button, selecting any nutrient, then selecting the sort direction (high-to-low or low-to-high). The resulting report lists all the food items in the intake or recipe, sorted from high-to-low or low-to-high as specified. This report lists the food item, its amount (mg, mcg, IU, etc.) and its percentage contribution to the intake or recipe. This tells you where all that fat, sodium, cholesterol or any other nutrient is coming from.
NutriBase lets you edit your nutrient goals to suit your requirements.
The NutriBase Fitness Manager supports Target Heart Rate Training exercises... it automatically calculates calorie expenditures for each client based on in-zone training time (as well as gender, age, and body weight).
NutriBase provides fully editable formulas for calorie and exercise expenditure calculations. You can select from several formulas to use for calorie expenditure and consumption calculations and modify key variables in these formulas as desired.
NutriBase lets you organize your recipes into 26 folders, each of which can be organized into 36 tabs. The same applies for meals and personal food items.
The nutrient data used in NutriBase is featured in the industry's most popular series of nutritional information books (the "NutriBase Series").
NutriBase lets you organize recipes, meals, and personal food items into tabbed notebooks, then add, delete, or rename tabs.
NutriBase tracks body chemistry data, personal information, and measurements for each client. NutriBase even lets you add things to track. For instance, you could track the number of jelly beans eaten by a client and time-stamp the moment she ate them. You can setup the NutriBase Info Tracker to record and report on anything.
NutriBase lets you rank (sort) foods from high-to-low or low-to-high based on their values for any nutrient while you select the food category or categories to rank (Beverages, Fruits, etc.), the subcategories of foods (Alcoholic Beverages, Juices, Carbonated Beverages, etc.) in your ranking.
NutriBase lets you rank (sort) recipes, meals, and personal food items from high-to-low or low-to-high based on their values for any nutrient while you are viewing them on-screen by simply clicking on the nutrient's column header. Clicking the column headers again instantly reverses the sort-sequence. This instant ranking capability lets you quickly fins your lowest calories recipes, your highest fiber recipes, or your recipes with the most Calcium, Vitamin E or Protein.
NutriBase lets you resize columns of data by letting your drag the edges of column headers. NutriBase also lets you resequence columns of data by dragging the columns left or right.
NutriBase normally displays nutrient data in a spreadsheet view (in columns and rows). Double-click any food item to view all of the nutrient data for a single food item in a single window. Click options to export the data, copy the data to the Windows clipboard, print it, or to copy the food item to a recipe, an intake, or to make it a personal food item (a frequently used food).
NutriBase lets you set "thumbs up" criteria to trigger when clients achieve pre-set daily exercise and/or dietary goals. This information is displayed on a color coded calendar to provide a snapshot of how your client's days went (red when they didn't achieve their goals, green when they did).
NutriBase lets you set alarms to trigger when clients exceed any nutrient limit(s) you program for them. For instance, NutriBase can warn you when you select a food with too much sodium, or fat, or cholesterol.
NutriBase lets you modify preferences to control the way you interface with NutriBase. This lets you modify your software interface to work the way you want it to work.
NutriBase lets you stamp all your Meal Plans and recipes with your byline (up to 80 characters) before distributing them. (Your "byline" can be your name, your web address, your copyright notice, etc.)
NutriBase charges no annual subscription fees for continued technical support and updates beyond the first year.
The NutriBase End-User License allow you to install NutriBase on up to three computers as long as you are the sole user of the software. This means you can install NutriBase at work and at home or to a notebook PC. The Back and Restore capabilities let you transfer data from one machine to another.
This list is by no means exhaustive, but we think we've made our point. If you require a more in-depth, "at-a-glance" comparison of these three programs, take a look at our High-End Software Comparison Chart. |
