How to Install NB7 on a Vista PC.
Run the NutriBase setup program. You may notice that we are installing NB7 outside of the Program Files folder. This is important because Vista has imposed certain rules for all files that reside in the Program Files folder. These rules make it difficult for us to support some features, such as backup and restore. By installing into the c:\NutriBase folder, NB7 can perform all of its functions properly.

After the NutriBase Setup Program is finished, a text file will appear. You only need to read this text file if you are running the Windows Vista operating system on your PC. It tells you that before you start NutriBase 7 for the first time, you should...

1) Find the NB7 Program Icon on your Windows Desktop. Right mouse-click this Icon. Click the Properties option, then click the Compatibility Tab. Check the box next to "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" and select Windows XP (Service Pack 2) from the list.
2) Check the box below this section labeled "Run this program as an administrator," then click the OK Button.

Notes
Running as an administrator under Vista is only required during two situations:

If NB7 is installed in Vista's Program Files folder, NB7 must always be run as an administrator.

If NB7 is installed outside the Program Files folder (for example, in c:\NutriBase), NB7 must be run once as an administrator for the initial NB7 set up (prior to running NutriBase for the first time), and... you must run NB7 with administrator rights again when you register NutriBase (by entering in the registration key that you get from us).

If NB7 is already registered, then NutriBase doesn't need to be run as an administrator as long as NB7 is installed outside of Vista's Program Files folder.

Windows WinHelp Program is Available from Microsoft
NutriBase uses the Microsoft WinHelp program that does not ship with Vista. The Windows Help Program for Vista is available from Microsoft. To download this Vista WinHelp program so you can run the NutriBase Help File on Vista, please visit the Microsoft download page for Vista WinHelp.

What To Do If You Are a NutriBase User and You Want to Upgrade to Vista
If you are running NutriBase on your PC and you decide to upgrade from Windows XP to Vista, please take these steps to assure a smooth transition.

1) Before upgrading to Vista, move your NutriBase Folder out of the Program Files folder to the root of your hard drive. You can use Windows Explorer and simply drag your NutriBase Folder out of the Program Files folder and into the C: Drive Icon.
2) Update your NutriBase shortcut to point to the new location.
3) Upgrade to Vista.
4) After upgrading to Vista, find the NB7 Program Icon on your Windows Desktop. Right mouse-click this Icon. Click the Properties option, then click the Compatibility Tab. Check the box next to "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" and select Windows XP (Service Pack 2) from the list.

How to Update to the Latest Version of NB7.
To check to see if you have the latest version of NutriBase 7 installed on your computer, visit our NB7 Update Page.

Compare the version number of the current NutriBase verison with the version number of your NutriBase installation. (To see your version number, start NutriBase on your PC and read the software caption - the line of text that appears in the upper left corner of your NutriBase window.)

If your version number is lower than the current version number, you may update to the latest version by downloading our latest NB7 Update Program from our NB7 Update Page.
